Helping Those Struggling with Mental Health

Mental Health Support Ministry – The goal of our mental health support ministry is to provide spiritual support, education, and companionship to individuals and families of our parish who are struggling with mental health issues.

The ministry typically sponsors a number of meetings, classes, and other events throughout the year.  Recent educational efforts have included hosting the Family-to-Family class presented by the Hillsborough Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, as well as speakers from BayCare Behavioral Health.  We also conduct a prayer service each October on the National Day of Prayer for Mental Illness Recovery and Understanding, and we participate in the parish healing Mass each May during Mental Illness Awareness Month.

For those who are seeking counseling services, please contact Dr. Pat Berne of our parish staff for assistance or for referral to outside services.  For additional information on mental health issues in general, please refer to the links provided here. For more information about this ministry, please email us at mentalhealthsupport@stpaulchurch.com or contact Deacon Ray Dever.  And watch the parish bulletin and newsletter for announcements of upcoming ministry events!
