Preschool Staff

Mindy Geer
Director

Mrs. Geer started as a preschool parent and carline volunteer when her children attended the preschool in 2008.  In 2012, she began working as an Assistant Teacher with the four-year-old class.  This experience has gaven her a wonderful insight into the staff and classroom’s needs. The following year she became the Office Assistant to better utilize her degree and background in Business Administration.  In 2018 she became the Assistant Director, then Director in 2020.  Over the last few years, she has been taking early childhood classes to continue learning about the science behind the teaching while helping the staff maintain the preschool's National NAEYC Accredittion. In her free time, she enjoys gardening and the outdoors, traveling and being with her children (Andrew - 17 and Lindsey - 14).

Jen Waibel
Assistant Director

Mrs. Waibel has lived in Tampa for most of her life. She has been a parishioner at St. Paul since childhood and attended Sacred Heart Academy and Academy of the Holy Names. Mrs. Waibel lives in Lutz with her husband, three daughters, and two dogs. Her daughters are all alumni of St. Paul Catholic Preschool. Mrs. Waibel started as a parent volunteer and substitute teacher when her second daughter entered our preschool in 2012. She has been a lead teacher in our three-year-old and Pre-K classes since 2019 and became Assistant Director in 2022. Mrs. Waibel earned her education degree from the University of South Florida and has nine years of elementary teaching experience in Pasco and Hillsborough counties. She enjoys traveling with her family, crafting, kayaking, and browsing Pinterest for new ideas for the preschool. Mrs. Waibel feels blessed and proud to be a part of the St. Paul mission to provide a nurturing, safe, Catholic environment where children are inspired to learn, play, and grow.

Nitza Espaillat
Lead Teacher two year-olds

Her love for children and Nature is her guidance in everything she does. As an Early Childhood educator, her goal is to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn and to follow their natural curiosity and wonder. As a nature-based educator, her goal is to get the children to experience not just the wider world, but themselves. Mrs. Espaillat (Mrs. E) was a volunteer in 2014, joined the staff in 2015, moved from the area in 2019 but happily returned in 2022 as a lead teacher for the 2 years old program. She has worked in various catholic schools for over 25 years in administration and as a teacher. She is a proud mother of 4, grandmother of 5, and great-grandmother of one. Her passion for the outdoors is a part of her everyday life and drives her to be able to teach the young learners to love and enjoy nature, to add a pinch of adventure, and big handful of outdoor play which is the foundation of children’s learning.

Gina Carleton
Assistant Teacher two year-olds

Ms. Carleton is a Tampa native and a lifelong parishioner of St. Paul’s Parish. She graduated from the International Baccalaureate Program followed by earning her Bachelors Degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida. After having her two children, she decided to move into childhood education. It is her first year as an Assistant Teacher at St. Paul’s Catholic Preschool, and looks forward to becoming a part of the enriching, supportive and loving environment. Her hobbies include enjoying time with her family, reading, singing, and spending time outdoors.

Sherrie Aquilino
Assistant teacher three year-olds

This is Mrs. Aquilino’s (Mrs. A) 3rd year at St. Paul and is the teacher assistant in the three-year-old classroom. She has recently renewed her CDA (Child Development Associate Degree) and has over 20 years’ experience as a teacher and assistant.

She is originally from Buffalo, New York and married her high school sweetheart.  In 1986, they moved to Tampa to raise a family and they have been here ever since. She has two grown sons that both live in the Bay area.

Mrs. A. has a song for every occasion and enjoys sharing her love of Jesus with the children in her class.

Ioana Laine
Lead Teacher for three-year-olds

One of the things that attracted Mrs. Laine to St. Paul's Preschool is the feeling that most of the teachers tell her life story: a nervous mom trusting the school with the care and education of her children, gradually falls in love with the St. Paul family and wants to be part of it even after both of her children have moved onto kindergarten. Therefore, moving from her career in the legal field, Mrs. Laine has become a Florida certified teacher and has been teaching at St. Paul in the 4 and 3-year-old programs since 2017. Mrs. Laine is originally from Romania. Aside from spending time with her husband and two children (Julia - 10, Erik - 8), Mrs. Laine enjoys traveling, cooking, reading and playing tennis.

Michelle Musial
Assistant Teacher for three-year-olds

Mrs. Musial first came to St. Paul Catholic Preschool as a parent and a volunteer.  She joined the staff as an assistant teacher in the 3-day, two year old class in 2015. After taking a year off to help her two children with e-learning, she returned to work in the 3-day threes. She recently finished her coursework to renew her Child Development Associate (CDA). Mrs. Musial believes in the research based philosophy that young children learn best through purposeful play, which is why she loves working in St. Paul Catholic Preschool's safe, nurturing and loving environment.

Donna Mills
Lead Teacher for four-year-olds

Mrs. Mills is a born and raised Tampa native. She attended Christ the King Catholic School and graduated high school from Tampa Catholic.  Mrs. Mills is married and has one child, Champ, who is currently attending St. Paul Catholic Preschool in the 2-year-old class with Mrs. E!  Mrs. Mills earned her degree from the University of South Florida (Go Bulls!)  She has four years of early childhood education experience and ten years of elementary experience working for Hillsborough County Public Schools. She is very excited to be joining the St. Paul family and loves being able to work with preschoolers once again, especially in a place that nurtures all students’ love for Jesus! In her free time, Mrs. Mills enjoys traveling, biking, going to the beach, cheering on Tampa sports teams, and attending concerts!

Marguerite Kors
Lead Teacher for three-year-olds

Mrs. Kors grew up in Indiana and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Education.  She and her husband lived in Memphis and Signal Mountain, Tennessee, before settling in Tampa to raise their four children. Her two youngest children attended St. Paul, which led to her joining the Preschool family first as an aide, then Tot Coordinator, and then 30+ years as a lead three year old teacher. She enjoys traveling, reading, watching hockey and walking with her Golden Retriever, Molly.

Karen Overmeyer
Lead Teacher for four-year-olds

Mrs. Overmyer joined the St. Paul Catholic Preschool family as a parent and volunteer, then as a substitute teacher before joining the staff in 2018. Her two children attended all three of their preschool years at St. Paul as well. She received her BS in Elementary Education at Clemson University in South Carolina and her Master’s Degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University. She has eight years of elementary teaching experience in Johns Creek, Georgia. She believes in the learning philosophy at St. Paul which is to nurture the unique learning styles of children and foster a safe learning space for a child’s development.

Jeanette Maniscalco
Assistant Teacher for four-year-olds

Mrs. Maniscalco was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. She is a parishioner and was also married at St. Paul. She began her journey with St. Paul Catholic Preschool as a parent and has made great friendships within the staff. She joined the St. Paul staff in 2019.  In 2020, she stayed home with her family to do virtual learning. Her love for children and being in the classroom has brought her back to the St. Paul team in 2021. She has a BS in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Public Health from the University of South Florida. During her free time, she loves spending time with family and crafting.
