St. Paul Catholic Church: Bookkeeper/Accountant – Part Time

The part-time bookkeeper/accountant provides a wide spectrum of support in accounting functions and business practices related to the financial integrity of St. Paul Catholic Church in Tampa. The individual will effectively establish and maintain accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for parish operations.

  • Input and maintain accounts payable including: examination of document accuracy and completeness, amounts due, and terms are honored and enter transactions into accounting system
  • Review and process purchase orders; accounts payable invoices; compare to purchase orders; enter into computer system; prepare checks for signatures; and remit payments to vendors
  • Create, maintain and organize financial Excel spreadsheets and special reports
  • Adhere to record retention policy and process documents for destruction
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Prepare bank deposits, deposit money in the bank and deposit log
  • Maintain petty cash accounts
  • Input donations into the accounting system and donor database
  • Contact vendors and staff
  • Reconcile bank statements monthly, prepare and enter adjustments
  • Enter Credit and ACH transactions into the accounting system
  • Maintain vendor information and prepare 1099’s
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts
  • Provide support to staff and auditor by request

Candidate must successfully complete a FDLE Level II Criminal Background screening and meet the minimum Standards of Moral Conduct of the Diocese as well as complete all Safe Environment requirements prior to employment.
