Becoming Catholic

OCIA for Children

The Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA) is adapted for youth older than 7 who are not baptized and/or older Catholic children who are baptized, but have not been catechized (instructed) or received First Communion. The OCIA process for children runs parallel to the adult process.

OCIA for Adults

Through the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA), adults over the age of 18 years become members of the Church over a period of time. This conversion process, through a prayerful discernment of God’s will, culminates in the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation), or in the case of Baptized Christians, the Profession of Faith, First Communion, Reconciliation, and Confirmation.

Do you:

  • need to be baptized?
  • have been baptized in another Christian tradition and desire to become Catholic?
  • have been baptized Catholic but are in need of First Communion and/or Confirmation?

This “Spiritual Journey” will give you the opportunity to:

  • journey with others
  • foster a deeper relationship with Jesus and the Church he founded
  • learn more about the Catholic Faith
