Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Dec. 8

Monday, December 8 is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Immaculate Conception is a Catholic doctrine proclaiming that Mary, mother of Jesus, was preserved from original sin from the moment of her conception. Defined as dogma in 1854 by Pope Pius IX, it emphasizes God’s grace preparing Mary to bear Christ, affirming her purity and unique role in salvation. This year, the feast day is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be offered at 7:30am, 12:15pm, 6:00pm and 7:30pm (in Spanish) in the main church on December 8.
