Catholic Youth Soccer

Please check this site on game days to ensure that practices and games are still being held.  Inclement weather and/or poor field conditions may lead to the postponement and/or cancellation of games.

• The first practice and week of games will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Our Lady of the Rosary Soccer Complex located at 2348 Collier Pkwy, Land O’ Lakes, FL 34639.
• Week two of the season will take place at the St. Paul Catholic Church Soccer Field located at 12708 North Dale Mabry High
• The Director of the Catholic Youth Soccer Program will be sending the week 1 schedule out to all families by Thursday, January 16, 2024.
• Kits (uniform consisting of a jersey top, black shorts and soccer socks) will be available for pickup on Thursday, January 17 and Friday, January 18 at the St. Paul Catholic Church Parish Office between the hours of 8am to 4pm.
• Players in the U6 and U8 division should arrive to the field 30 minutes before the scheduled game time for practice.
• Players in the U10, U12 and U14 divisions should arrive to the field 60 minutes before the scheduled game time for practice.

Below are details regarding participation in the Catholic Youth Soccer, Inc. program:

• Registration for the Winter 2025 CYS League is now open! (CLICK HERE TO REGISTER)
• Cost to participate will be $175 per child.
• The first practice and game for the Winter 2025 CYS League will be on January 18, 2024.  Practices and games will be held for 12 consecutive Saturdays through April 5, 2025.
• Participants will range from ages of 4 to 18, male and female (co-ed).
• Six divisions by age:  U6, U8, U10, U12, U14 and U18 (Note:  the ‘U’ stands for “Under”).
• Game format 4v4 (four players versus four players, no goalie) for U6 and U8 divisions.
• Game format 7v7 (seven players versus seven players) for U10, U12, U14 and U18 divisions [includes goalie].
• Games will be 40 minutes in length for U6 and U8 divisions (two, 20 minute halves) and 48 minutes in length for U10, U12, U14 and U18 divisions (two, 24 minutes halves).
• No previous soccer experience is necessary.
• Mandatory substitutions will be held every five (5) minutes for U6 and U8 teams and every eight (8) minutes for U10, U12, U14 and U18 teams.
• Teams may travel up to six times during the regular season to play different teams in our deanery.
• All players must wear shin guards*.  [*Note: Shin guards can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Target, DSG, other sporting good stores or online at Amazon or other online retailers].
• Soccer style cleated shoes (no metal) are highly recommended for play.
• Players must not wear any jewelry including but not limited to: watches, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc.
• Players should wear the shorts that are issued with their apparel kit; however, if those shorts do not fit. or if the proper size did not come in, black, substitute shorts must be pocketless.
• U6 and U8 teams will play 4v4 on a field approximately 20 yards x 30 yards (no goalie).
• U10, U12, U14 and U18 teams will play 7v7 on a field approximately 40 yards x 60 yards (with goalie).
• Teams practice on most Saturday mornings before their Saturday game at the location noted in the schedule sent by the Director of the CYS Program.
• U6 and U8 teams will practice 30 minutes before game time.
• U10, U12, U14 and U18 teams will practice one hour before game time, unless stated otherwise.
• Coaches may choose to have their practice time on a different day of the week instead of the hour before the Saturday game.
• Games last for approximately one hour for all divisions.
• When you register, you will be asked to link an email account to the family account (NOTICE:  Be advised that e-mail is the primary source of communication between the league, our church and your family.  Please ensure that your email address is typed correctly!).

Coaches will be needed for each team from U6 to U18 Divisions.  Coaches will need to commit to all games and practices.  All coaches must complete a Level II FBI background screening and complete Safe Environment Training.  Previous coaching experience and/or playing experience is preferred.  Currently, we are seeking a U12 coach.

Volunteer referees are needed at all games. All referees 18 years of age and older must complete a Level II FBI background screening and complete Safe Environment Training. Referees under the age of 18 will not need to complete a background screening.  We will offer training sessions.  Previous referee experience is preferred, but not required.
